Kadpoly — Students of Kaduna Polytechnic in the four campuses have expressed concern over the poor state of security on campuses.

Some of the students told Campus Roundup that the insecurity on campus has remain a source of worry to them, stressing that security strength on the campus has been inadequate, which made it possible for hoodlums to come into the campus.

Archibong Ndifreke, an HND II student of Chemical Engineering said insecurity on the campus has left them at the "mercy of hoodlums, who come in from Ungwan Sanusi and other communities close to the polytechnic to smoke Indian hemp."

"It is too bad imagine a whole of Kaduna Polytechnic does not have enough security personnel to mount 24 hours surveillance, and even the little ones are not doing their work as spell out but they only involve themselves in what does not concern them and the management is not doing anything to arrest the situation" he said.

In the same vein, a 200L student of Cooperative Studies Kafayat Abdulrasak said the security on campuses needs to be strengthened in order to make sure that lives and properties of students and staff are properly secured.

She said the increase in theft of motorcycles should be checked and that tags should be given to motorcyclists like motorists whenever they are coming into all the campuses of the polytechnic.

In his remarks, the Mayor of College of Business and Management Studies Hostel said occupants of the hostel are not secure because they only have one security man and the man is very old to secure the big hostel.

Also, Sophie Jimoh, the queen of Girls Hostel said many things are happening in the hostel, especially coming into hostels by strange people and the inability of security personnel to stop them because they are too old for the job.

"Strange faces do come into the hostel maybe to come and pick up things that have already been used by the girls at the hostel," she said.
