West Africa: Ecowas Picks Osun For Pilot Scheme With China

Osogbo — Economic Commission for West African States (ECOWAS) has chosen Osun state as a pilot State to implement its ECOWAS -China Economic Partnership scheme.

This was made known when ECOWAS delegates led by Mr. Alfred Buraimah and Chinese Investors from China National Chemical Engineering Company and IPPR Engineering Limited have arrived Osun state to seek areas of economic collaboration. Osun State Deputy Governor, Erelu Olusola Obada led a team of the state commissioners, permanent Secretaries and General Managers of corporations to conduct the visiting investors and ECOWAS delegates round investment opportunities across the state.

The delegation visited Osun state's Livingspring Free Trade Zone Complex under construction, the Ido-Osun Aerodrome, Cocoa Processing Company, Ede, Ede Water Works and Okinni Water works.

The investors indicated interest in power generation, aviation development, agricultural projects and the Free Trade zone. They will depart to Accra, Ghana on Friday 10th of July, 2009.
