Mendefera — A lecture focusing on sound ecology management was offered in the Southern region in which sub-zonal administrators and heads of ministries' branch offices participated.
Experts from the branch office of the Ministry of Land, Water and Environment gave briefings on the negative impact of solid garbage, motor oil and insecticides in the environment and public health, and ways of preventing the consequences.
Also in a briefings she gave on the occasion, the Head of the Eritrean Environment Management, Ms. Aster Redaezgi, indicated that environmental management is aimed at ensuring proper conservation and sustainability of natural resources, as well as their effective utilization. To this end, she stressed the significance of environmental exploration and assessment.
The head of environment department in the region, Mr. Tekie Teklemichael, on his part highlighted the causes and consequences of deforestation, utilization of water resource and its impact in the environment, as well as the significance of soil and water conservation activities. In this respect, he noted that the Ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, has been working diligently in preventing deforestation and called on the general public and administrative bodies to back up such endeavors.
