Say the Region was prepared to change and support government.
Over 50 traditional rulers "Fons" of the North West Region gathered under the banner of the North West Fons' Union (NOWEFU), have promised that the region will change and give President Paul Biya full support. Members of the Fons's Union led by its President General, Fon Aneng Francis of Bafmeng, yesterday, July 5 in Yaounde communed with and promised their support to the new Prime Minister, Philemon Yang.
His Majesty Aneng Francis congratulated Philemon Yang on his brilliant appointment and political career. The Fons gave the Prime Minister, North West traditional regalia, as well as a "Red feather" they described as an instrument he will use in getting Cameroon out of poverty. The Fons' wives also presented gifts to the Prime Minister's wife. In a motion of support to the Head of State, the Fons assured that the entire North West population was behind him.
In response, the new Prime Minister, Philemon Yang said he was proud to hear that the Fons will support him without hesitation. He told them "we are at the beginning of a journey. During the journey, I cannot succeed alone and you cannot also succeed alone". Consequently, he added, "we have to work together in order to succeed together". Mr Yang further told the North West population that, "we have a wonderful opportunity to shape our future" and specified that this would be done by, "working hand in hand, making the right choices and knowing that there is only one President in this one and great nation, Cameroon".
The Former Prime Minister, Simon Achidi Achu and the Minister of Special Duties at the Presidency, Victor Mengot among other officials were present for the event.
