Angola: Coffee Harvest Campaign Opens at Pango-Aluquém District

Pango-Aluquém — Coffee harvest campaign in Bengo Province opened Friday in Kizuze association farm, located at Kita (Pango Aluquém District), in a ceremony led by the Union of Peasants Association and Farming Co-operatives (UNACA) of that district, Mateus Venâncio.

The official revealed to the press that Pango-Aluquém District is expected to collect 20 tones of mabuba coffee, so will probably overcome the 2008 harvest.

Mateus Venâncio explained that peasants of that district invested in coffee production to contribute to the social and economic development of the country, satisfying the national and international market.

Pango-Aluquém District's administration of UNACA controls nine associations of peasants with 260 members and ten co-operatives with 300 collaborators.

Pango-Aluquém District has an estimated 9,000 people, mainly peasants, producers of banana, sweat potatoes maize, beans, coffee among others.
