Uganda: Ogoola's Harvest of Poetry

2 July 2009

Kampala — IF he lived off his words, Justice James M. Ogoola would probably be rich, for this old wise man, who is also Uganda High court's principle judge, has a way with words.

And yet, its not just words, but the life, meaning and emotion that he carries in them that make his work complete.

Justice Ogoola will today, launch his first work - an anthology of poems and verse entitled Songs of Paradise A Harvest of Poetry and Verse, at Victoria Hall, Serena Hotel.

This collection comprises 52 carefully crafted poems that explore the essence of human living.

The work appears under six subtitles, each of which captures Ogoola's reflections on the true meaning of life.

From the spiritual, love and life, mortality and immortality, environment and nature, justice and governance to hearty tributes and dedications, Ogoola carries the reader through a reflective journey of what makes life worth its while.

His work, influenced by biblical allusions, carries with it a musical tone oscillating between rhythmic verse and repetitive lines that draw on the author's own strong spiritual and scholarly influence to lead to new insights into life.
