Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe has said his country wan ts to strengthen its co-operations with Spain.
Gnassingbe spoke as he and visiting Spanish Prime Minister Jose Louis Rodriguez Zapatero signed a "political memorandum of understanding" at the Lome airport o n Tuesday.
The details of the MOU were not released to the media.
Spain is represented in Togo at the level of a consulate and relations between t he two countries are not as warm as those between Togo and some European major countries like France and Germany.
The Spanish Prime Minister's visit to Lome lasted only a few hours.
