Luanda — The Japanese "Sumitomo" firm presented last Friday in northern Bengo province "Olyset" mosquito net model containing insecticides, different from other types used to combat malaria.
In an interview to ANGOP, the deputy director of the Sumitomo Business Development Group in Angola, Manuel Yamazaki, referred that the initial intention is to advertise the product, a task expected to begin with the handing over of 500 mosquito nets to inhabitants of Mabaia village, 25 kilometres from Catete village, in Bengo province.
He explained that the "Olyset" technology contains a log-lasting insecticide incorporated in its fibre. Besides serving as a physical barrier, "Olyset" mosquito nets are also chemical barriers that kill attracted insects.
From six months to one year, staff of that firm in collaboration with the Health Ministry will supervise the quality and results achieved by using the aforementioned mosquito nets, taking into account the plan to build a factory of this product in Angola.
