Angola: Actor Stresses Theatre Contribution to People's Empowerment

Luanda — The actor of Oásis theatre group, Africano Cangombe affirmed this Wednesday in Luanda, that theatre represents a weapon for people's defence and evolution.

Speaking to Angop about the importance of the theatre in the society, Africano Cangombe said that people that don't foment theatre, if they are not dead, they are dying people, as it is very important for a country development.

On his turn, one of the members of the theatre group Julu, Lourenço Mateus said that the Angolan theatre is alive and it happens, needing only appropriate exhibition halls and promoters.

The Ministry of Culture has been creating recreation centres, such as in the districts of Viana, Cacuaco and Benfica in Luanda province, with spaces reserved for theatre, but their problem are linked to acoustics conditions, and other indispensable items for holding a good show.
