Alou(Lebialem): Sombe Simon the new man at the helm of Alou Sub division has been challenged to settle regular land disputes that have destroyed many lives and property in the area. While installing the new D.O, the SDO for Lebialem Division, Amougu François did not only charge Sombe to settle land disputes but also reminded him that the destiny of the over 65.000 inhabitants lay on his shoulders. He told the DO that though the area has a complex topography and people, he must chart a way foeward that inspire peace, progess and development. It was a rare moment with Sombe Simon taking up his fist assignment as a D.O straight from Bamenda where he served as the 1st Assistant SDO of Mezam. Staring him on the face are challenges to ensure hygien and sanitation, making portable water available to all and lifting the educational standards of the population. To succeed in this task, the SDO said Sombe Simon should respect the customs of the people and work closely with the traditional rulers. He equally urged him to be firm in decisions, vigilant and balance in judgements. The SDO prescribed tolerance by the population and urged Service heads to collaborate with the D.O.\
Earlier the Mayor of Alou Council, Prince Pierre Marie Metsatedem qualified the out going mayor, Derek Nwanjo Lokombe a devoted and dynamic administrator. The population will remember him for his start in solving land disputes, organizing clean up campaigns that changed the face of the area and for the peace and tranquility that reign. His successor, Sombe is a dynamic, honest and bilingual product of the National school of Administration and Magistracy. He is at the helm of a Sub divisio with 65,000 inhabitants.Among their problems are poor roads, limited water and electricity supply and few distant health facilities. The 38-year-old Sombe Simon took office in Alou as a source of hope for the people. He is well read with a Masters Degree in law. The father of two became the new D.O of Alou on the strength of a recent Presidential decree. The cream of Bamenda filed out in Alou to cheer the installation of the man they held in high esteem.
