The start of a new year is full of great expectations, and resolutions by many individuals, who intend to make their dreams come true, especially when those dreams were not achieved in the preceding year.

Your exciting Chronicle Entertainment Train Driver also made several resolutions, which included making sure that passengers on board the train have a pleasant reading experience through this entertainment column!

If there is anyone whose dream is materialising today, then it would be no other person than the good old Professor, now President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills, and what can one say, other than finally the people of Ghana have a President, despite all the hullabaloo that engulfed this election.

What baffles your Entertainment Train Driver is the effect the election had on the showbiz industry in Ghana, to be specific the musicians who came out with songs upon songs for the political parties, to the extent of organising press conferences to buttress and justify why they support which or what party.

Initially, it seemed as though Phillipa Baafi's "Go Go High" was the perfect song for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) party, until Christiana Love popped out with We are Moving Forward, then followed Lumba with his 'Nana Nana Ye Winner Ohh.' The song rocked a lot, with the music video of ladies doing the choreography being awesome!

Later Kwabena Kwabena came out with his version of the campaign songs, also for the NPP, and his was "Oye Number One. The music video was also interesting to watch, as he, Kwabena Kwabena, was clad in all white, signifying the victory of the party, though the voting had not taking place yet.

When one thought the political campaign songs were a done deal, then came the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with the 'Wahala Yi" song, which had a music video with the cartoon of a female rapper, whose head was way bigger than her body, signifying how lean she had grown, out of exaggerated hunger, it did seem funny though.

Yes! how could one forget the Convention People's Party (CPP) song, composed and sang by C-zar, it was a nice composition, and too bad it died off, because of the party's early surrender to defeat, even before the race begun.

Kudos, to all the news presenters and journalists who became musicians and advocates for peace. Indeed, politics brings out a side of people that one can hardly imagine exists. It is only politics that will discover the likes TV3's Nana Kwaku Adua and Dzifa Nkansah, just to mention a few, singing like birds on national TV, good job done Amandzeba.

Another aspect of this past election, which your train driver noted contributed to the fun part, were the campaign adverts of both the NPP and the NDC, one funny advert from the NPP, was the one with two guys watching a football match, then they heard a knock on the door, and when they probed to find out who it was, a mimicking voice of the good professor answered, and pledged not to consult.

The two gentlemen decided to open the door, only to see a masked military man pushing his way through, as he was being prevented.

Also from the NDC party, was the advert of the school boy who claimed to have had his answers all wrong in his examinations - questions concerning issues such as the National Health Insurance Scheme, School Feeding Programme, Free Maternal birth, and several others, that advert was indeed funny.

All said and done, be it political songs of all themes and lyrics, political adverts with several messages, or mammoth rallies upon rallies, trust the true Ghanaian to put all behind and move forward with peace as the war song.

The colorful inauguration at the Independence Square yesterday, said it all, and the message was simple, a new year, a new government, but certainly the same Ghanaian who wants nothing other than peace.

At yesterday's ceremony the Kente reigned high as the attire for the occasion, and just as the Kente cloth is woven beautifully with different colors, so the people of Ghana, despite the tribes, regions and religions, are always in coexistence beautifully, despite our differences, may God bless us all Amen!
