Oweri — An Owerri based industrialist has, with the support of the University of Ghent, Belgium, developed a film galvanizing system known as Zinga, which answers the present industrial challenges for the protection of all steel materials against corrosion.

Apart from this development, the Company has concluded plans with the proprietary manufacturer, Zingametall of Belgium, to establish a plant for the manufacturing of Zinga products in Imo State.

The Chairman of Gmicord Industrial Group, Mr. Goddy M. Ihenachor, disclosed these facts in an exclusive interview with Vanguard in Owerri. "The product will serve the needs of the nation"s oil, gas, power, steel, marine and telecommunication sectors of the country"s economy in line with the Nigerian Content Initiative (NCI)", Mr. Ihenachor explained.

Answering a question, the Gmicord boss said that his Company"s driving force stems from the confidence in government"s demonstrated understanding of the need to foster the public and private sector interface for accelerated development.

"The Company has entered into an exclusive partnership with the world"s pioneer manufacturers of stone coated roofing sheets now marketed in Nigeria as Gmicord Stone Tech Roofing Sheet.

Our partners are already planning to build the factory in Imo State", Ihenachor said.On whether the new roofing sheet has any adverse implications to human health, the industrialists said there was no such thing, even as he maintained that the durability of the product was guaranteed.
