Swaziland: Hunt Slams FA

3 January 2009

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has blamed the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) for not treating the injuries of his player while on national duty.

Hunt says Dennis Masina has not been playing for SuperSport because every time he comes back from a national duty, he is injured and it seems no-one from NFAS cares about that.

"When Dennis came back from the Togo game he was injured and I had to do without him for several weeks as he underwent his treatment here at the club. I'm not sure how the Swazi FA goes about their affairs, but this affects my team," he says.

"The truth is that he has come back twice from Swaziland with injuries and no-one explains anything to us. That is very bad as we are the ones who suffer at the end of the day."

NFAS CEO Frederick Mngomezulu says he is not aware that Masina went back to SuperSport injured. He says the association has its own doctors who help injured players before they go back to their respective teams.

"We've had cases where we treated and the players return to their respective teams injury-free," he says.

However, this is not the first case as former FC AK striker Siza Dlamini had the same problem and he had to miss the away game away to Kenya before his case was resolved.

Masina announced his retirement from international football after Sihlangu lost 6-0 to Togo.
