Tunis — Air links between Tozeur, located some 400 kilometres South of the capital, and the cities of Milan, Geneva and Madrid, will reopen in November 2009.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in Tozeur by the Minister of Tourism, Mr Khelil Laajimi.
The reopening of the air links, which was one of the main requests of the professionals in the sector, will contribute to boosting Saharan tourism in the country.
Mr Laajimi who is currently on a work visit in the governorate of Tozeur, met with professionals from the sector of tourism, including hotel managers, travel agents and investors.
He also took cognizance of the renovation works undertaken on various tourist sites, including a station for horse-drawn carts in Tozeur and the Star Wars film shooting site in Onk Jmel, whose renovation work was launched in November 2008 for a global cost of one million dinars.
