Arusha — Latoya's out! In a live Sunday eviction show (September 21) screened across the continent on DStv, Tanzania's Latoya Lyakurwa became the first contestant evicted from M-Net's reality hit Big Brother Africa 3 as host KB Ngakane revealed the outcome of viewer voting.
The announcement, which ended the 21-year-old native of Arusha 28-day stay in the house, saw audiences save Botswana's Tawana who had been isolated, along with Latoya, in a specially constructed Rubbish Dump for a week.
The eviction marks the first in the series, after Big Brother threw housemates two stunning curveballs in two consecutive weeks, first 'evicting' Thami and Morris before sending them back into the house minutes later and then taking both Latoya and Tawana out of the house and sending them to the Rubbish Dump instead of eliminating them from the show altogether - without the remaining housemates knowing!
This week, viewers voted for which of the two housemates in the Rubbish Dump they wanted to see evicted. Adding to the drama was the fact that the other 10 housemates, in the house, thought that they were all up for eviction too, a ploy devised by Big Brother to keep everyone on the edge of their seats.
As the show closed, Big Brother cut to the coverage in the house, as Tawana explained to her fellow housemates how she and Latoya had been able to see and hear a fair amount of what had been going on in the house during their exile in the Rubbish Dump. Some of the housemates are now frantically reviewing their conversations over the past week!
