The Government is again at what it knows best to do - equivocations and prevarications! The impression being created is that N20.6 billion handles the demands of ASUU and others for the period. The Minister should have told Nigerians what it translates to in terms of monthly pay for a professor. Aren't these politicians the ones whose daily feeding allowance for one is the monthly pay of a senior university lecturer? So, they want us to believe there's no money to do the right things in order to save our future? Haba!! These people need to be prayed for!

As for ASUU strike, the Government is about to wake up from its protracted sleep. Although am not supposed to make any comment, as my (ASUU)President is not aware of the claim that the FG has met all our demands, yet i have to call our attention to the fact that our demands are not met yet. The said N20.6Bn did not meet up the gap in funding for the rest of the year, taking into cognisance the fact that salary increment is but one of our demands. Furthermore, parents must know now that by granting autonomy to universities, as potrayed by the govt, they (parents) have to pay more, by way of fees, for their children. This should not be seen to be the repercussion of salary increment alone, as may be pictured by enemies of ASUU, within and without. If it finally comes, although we dont hope it does and we are standing against it, the FG must be majorly blamed for it. Finally,i hope at the end of all these, we (ASUU) may not have to resort to another strike action, for either the increment or its arrears (due to possible delayed implementation) to be paid. In the event we have to, parents, our families and the populace, will have to understand and support us as usual.
