The below email sent to the ICC expresses how deeply I feel betrayed by the decision on Bashir taken at the AU summit in Libya.

"PLEASE DO NOT LET BASHIR OFF THE HOOK

I pray in the name of God, that you do not allow yourselves to be influenced by the nonsensical decision taken by our so-called African leaders at the AU summit. If there was any need for evidence that our leaders are more concerned about themselves than the people they lead, then this is it.

I do not understand how, in a continent in which probably more than 90% of the people are black Africans, our so-called leaders can brazenly and blatantly condone the indiscriminate killing of black people that went on (and is still going on) in Darfur. This stupid decision by these selfish people is a disgrace and probably shows (I am not sure) that we are genetically inferior. This is a SAD SAD day, in which these terribly selfish clowns have made all Africans look like fools.

I implore you to please turn on the pressure on Bashir rather than listen to what the African leaders have to say. Bashir cannot just kill black people like flies, just because they took up arms to end discrimination against them.

I used to work as a local staff member for the UN in a country in West Africa, that itself saw destruction by some drug-crazed people at the instigation of leaders like Bashir. I saw how the presence of the UN and its various institutions gave hope to the population at their darkest hour and their time of greatest need. The UN and its organs are probably the only hope we the people of Africa now have to right the wrongs that our leaders may commit against us. Yours is a sacred duty entrusted to you my humanity. PLEASE DO NOT LET US DOWN."

What happens in Africa is sad. I dont agree with Museveni's prolonged stay in power. But I agree with him 100% on the issue of USA for Africa. Gaddafi said in April that he does not belive in elections, arguing instead that one party rule the best model for Africa. How ridiculous and less thoughtful is such as stand. USA of Africa is hundreds if not thousands of years away. Let Africa chew before it swallows. With Bashir, he should join Taylor at the ICC. Why not? If he is inoocent he will be aquitted. The fact that he doesnt want to go there clearly shows that he knows that he is guilty.

The double standard cries out to us.

justice can be found?and that is Spain. With its landmark indictment of

Pinochet and its current consideration of Israeli war crimes in Lebanon and

U.S. torture in Guantanamo, we increasingly look to the Spanish Courts with

hope. It was the Spanish courts that returned indictments against Rwandan

soldiers for genocide even as the world coddles U.S. proxy Rwanda and its

leader, Paul Kagame.

President Zuma has allied himself with Mugabe before. Mugabe was behind the what is known as the “silent genocide” He actively removed white productive farmers, most of whom disappeared without a trace. This subsequently caused food shortages across the country causing even more citizens of Zimbabwe to disappear. While this was happening South Africa provided Zimbabwe with financial and political support. I can only muse as to President Zuma’s need for impunity. Is it perhaps because he or some of his fellow politicians require impunity themselves? Or could it be because it would free them to commit crimes against humanity in order to better their status. As my fellow South Africans still seem to have a hard time reconciling the past, I can only predict heinous crimes being committed against target groups, especially minority groups including the white population of the country.

It is unfortunate that the political leadership of South Africa have shown no growth with regards to human rights or ethics. As a native South African I have experienced apartheid and persecution based on skin colour and I would have hoped that those who are educated and in charge of our people, would stop these banalities against humanity and follow the example of countries such as Canada and France. Legal action should be taken against criminal action which includes those leading to the senseless deaths of innocent people. If President Mugabe is to receive impunity for the crimes he has committed in life, then all the murderers and thieves in South African jails should be set free. Is president Zuma prepared to deal with those levels of violence that would result from such a release?

My only hope is that innocent South Africans will be at the ready to defend themselves.
